Richard DeVoe, a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner™ Professional, graduated from the University of Mississippi with degrees in accounting and finance in 1983 and 1984. Upon graduation he joined the accounting firm of Clarke, Bradley and Baker in Greenville. He then moved back home to Oxford after five years of practice and started his own firm shortly thereafter. He formed the predecessors to Devoe Carr, PLLC in 1994 where he is the managing partner. He has practiced public accounting for more than 40 years.

Richard joined Barnes Pettey Financial Advisors in 1999. He obtained his Certified Financial Planner certification in 2005. He is licensed in the State of Mississippi as an independent insurance agent. He holds the Personal Financial Specialist designation from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Richard is active in his community, serving with several non-profits in Oxford, and previously served in the City of Oxford government in various roles. He is an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oxford and is a ruling Elder. He is the past president of the greater Oxford Lafayette Community Foundation. Richard is married to Ann, they have two children, Mary Frances and Ellie. He is an avid golfer and duck hunter.
